"Love Story 2050 v/s JAANE TU YA JAANE NA " - The Fight Begins

Jaane Tu..Ya Jaane Na and Love Story 2050 will battle it out for the number one spot today.

Except for the length and the number of prints, both the films are at par. The length of Love Story is three hours while Jaane Tu... is two hours and 35 minutes. This will surely help Jaane Tu... in getting one or two extra shows at multiplexes.

Also, Love Story is releasing with approximately 1000 prints in India and Overseas and Jaane Tu... is releasing with approximately 450 prints in India and Overseas.

While Cinemax and Adlabs have decided to allot equal number of shows to both movies, PVR has opened advance bookings with one extra show for Jaane Tu..., due to its shorter length than Love Story .

It can also be noted that while Jaane Tu... is concentrating on its release in metros and big cities, Love Story is penetrating into smaller cities as well.

King Khan's Vaccation comes to an End

Shah Rukh Khan is holidaying with wife Gauri and kids Aryan and Suhana in London right now. However, once he returns, he will be shooting non-stop through this year and next.

Our source says, "SRK will be back on the sets of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi on July 7 since they have two more months of shooting left. Some parts of the film will be shot in Yashraj Studios while some will be shot in Punjab. In case the schedule in Punjab is delayed, Shah Rukh will head south for his home production Billoo Barber directed by Priyadarshan. Otherwise, he will shoot for Billoo… for a week after finishing Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi around August."

And that's not all. Adds the source, "After Billoo Barber, he will shoot for Karan Johar's Khan in September, mainly in the US. After finishing Khan, he will start work on the sequel of Don in January next year. The shooting will take place both in India and abroad."

And it's not only films. The few free days that he will have in between wrapping up Billoo Barber and starting with Khan, he will spend shooting for all his ads. Also, he will look at scripts of films that Red Chillies will be producing, including Farah Khan's next, tentatively titled Happy New Year. Obviously, it goes without saying that SRK will star in Farah's film.

Salman follows Aamir's Footsteps

Aamir has always been a perfectionist and his selection of roles, one film per year funda only elaborates his knack of striving for perfection. Bollywood of late has been spoofing Aamir and his perfection a lot... what’s with Riteish aping his attitude at the IIFA this year!

However Salman doesn’t seem to be the one to join those who make a mockery of Aamir’s perfectionism! In fact, his admiration for Aamir has only increased after their recent encounter on Dus Ka Dum.

Said a unit hand of the show, “We all have known Aamir as the perfectionist whether it's acting, producing or directing films. However, we were surprised when he requested Salman Khan for a mock rehearsal before playing the final game - 10 Ka Dum.”

A spectator who witnessed the episode added, “Busy with the promotions of Imran's debut film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, the duo (Aamir – Imran) turned up late on the sets and came in straight for a rehearsal. Like a true host Salman explained the format of the game and how it's played! In the knock out round (2 contestants play against each other for 5 questions, the contestant that gives the maximum right answer plays the game for 10 crores) Aamir and Imran were pitted against each other, as expected Aamir would think through his answer well before finally pulling the trigger (a knob next to their screens). However, the young lad – Imran won against mamu Aamir and excitedly played the game.”

Talking about the funniest moments of the show one of the other audience members revealed, “During the rehearsals Salman asked Imran "Aap Aamir ko kya bulate ho?" Imran said "Aamir mamu" Salman asked "Toh aap mujhe kya bulaoge?" Imran said "Chachu"... Salman immediately asked "Toh shaadi ke maamlein mein aap apne mamujaan par jayenge ya phir aapke chacha pe (pointing to himself)" all of them broke into a laugh riot and the game continued. Salman and Aamir got along like a house on fire and we wonder why people used to talk about their alleged tiff?”

Seems like Salman actually enjoyed every bit of his interaction with his most perfect contestant Aamir!

Sameera to ba Judge

After Mahesh Bhatt and celebrated choreographer Ganesh Hegde, Balaji Telefilms has roped in the vivacious and stunning actress Sameera Reddy as the show's third judge for Kabhii Kabhii Yaar Kabhii Kabhii Pyaar .

Sameera will make her debut on television with Balaji's dance based reality show, to be aired on Sony shortly. It had earlier been reported that the pretty actress was supposed to judge another reality show, Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket . But nothing came around.

Sameera's presence will surely bring some glamour quotient on the show. The show will have male celebs performing with their on screen and real life partners.

Ameesha Patel Now Just Ameesha

She’s simply Ameesha now. We saw her name appear as ‘Ameesha’ in the credit titles of her latest film, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic and decided to check.

Since Ameesha didn’t take our calls or reply to our messages, we contacted her director, Kunal Kohli. He said, “Ameesha told us how she wanted her name to appear, and we did it as she wanted. She didn’t want her surname. I didn’t ask her why. I thought there must be a numerological reason for it.”

We then called up Ameesha’s mother, Asha Patel, who snapped, “If you have seen that she has dropped her family name in the titles, why are you asking me? Please leave me alone.”

Her brother Ashmit seemed to know about it, though. But, he too said, “Why should I react to it? I don’t have any take on this.” Could it be for reasons related to numerology? He replied, “If it’s numerology, I hope it works for her.”

Salman is upset on Anil Sharma.

After the casting couch controversy it is believed that director Anil Sharma will be replaced by Sohail Khan. Reportedly Salman is upset on Sharma who is claiming to be innocent in this whole episode. It is learned that Salman now wants his young brother to direct Veer which has been written by him.

It will be produced by producer Vijay Galani. Veer is going to be Salman’s first period drama. Reportedly Salman who wanted to help the makers to find a main lead opposite him sent a girl for an audition to Anil Sharma. Apparently Anil Sharma misbehaved with the girl and after knowing the casting couch incident it is believed that Sohail will don the director’s hat.

When contacted, Sohail’s manager Vikas Kapoor denied the news, calling it a rumor. He reveals “Anil Sharma is very much part of the project as a director. There’s absolutely no problem between Salman and Anil. When two big people come together to work on a huge project controversies are bound to happen. They are on the hunt for a female lead and once that is finalized the film will go on the floors in the next few months.”

Anil Sharma was unavailable for the comment.

No More Dance from Hrithik

Think Hrithik Roshan and you think twinkle toes. It started with Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, where he burst into the scene to introduce a kind of fluid dancing that we hadn't seen in a long time, and never ended.

Audiences could never have enough of his dancing. But now they may have to do without the delights of Hrithik's dancing in some films to come. He is looking at scripts that will not require him to display his superb dancing skills.

The actor first got his knee surgery done at Bangkok soon after completing Jodhaa Akbar. But both the pain and the stiffness persisted.

A week ago, he went to Los Angeles to get a second surgery done. (It's another matter that most people thought he was in LA for the pre-production work of Anurag Basu’s Kites.)

Now, the surgery is over, the swelling is gone too, more or less. But it seems he will not be able to do his usual naacha gana with ease now, without harming the operated-on knee. And no, he has no dancing scenes in Kites.

He is reading plenty of other scripts too. But, besides looking at the meat of his role, his main criterion is, ‘No dancing, please’. Alas.

Rakhi to be the host to Aamir Khan

After wooing the Hindustaan Ki Janta and winning a reality show ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’, Rakhi has successfully managed to impress Aamir Khan too! Aamir has answered Rakhi’s prayers and will be seen as a guest on her talk show soon.

Come this weekend, Rakhi Sawant will be seen hosting a reality show on Zoom and had expressed her desire to invite Aamir as her first guest. Hellbent on getting Aamir on the show she went ahead and even wrote a letter to Aamir which read what made him so important to her? Touched by Rakhi’s gesture Aamir told her he will try to find some time out of his busy schedule and hopefully will try to make it to the show.

Designer Ashley Rebello who has designed Rakhi’s outfits for the show confirmed the news by saying, “Yes, Aamir has agreed to be on the show along with Vidya and Rakhi is extremely happy. She in fact reached Grand Hyatt at 6.30am yesterday all geared up to shoot her first episode! Vidya and Aamir were expected to join Rakhi in the evening.”

On seeing Aamir, Rakhi’s first words were (in hindi), “ I really wanted you on the show because I believe you have the Midas touch. Whatever you do, whatever film you make, becomes super successful. So I wanted you as my first guest as I wanted my show to be a hit”.

So will Rakhi keep up to her image and dress scantily or will she opt for an image make-over and dress more decently. Rebello said, “Rakhi wanted to look like Mallika Sherawat and since I design Mallika’s clothes, she asked me to do her clothes as well. She personally told me how she appreciates what Mallika wears. She is also being given diction training so that she can improve her English speaking skills.”

Mallika has already taken Bollywood by storm with her oomph and sex appeal, hopefully her admirer Rakhi will follow suit and set the tv screen on fire soon!

Aish down with German Measels

Aishwarya Rai is down with German measles. The actress, who has been under the weather since the past couple of days, has been medically advised not to come in contact with anyone as it is contagious.

A source reveals that Ash hadn't been keeping well ever since she returned from the IIFA awards in Bangkok earlier this month. After complaining of fever and bodyache for several days, Ash landed up with German measles.

Pa-in-law Amitabh Bachchan confirms the development and says, "Yes, it's been a while. But she's almost out of it."

Adds the source, "Ash has been advised complete bedrest. Since the virus takes its own time to subside, there isn't much she can do. She's cancelled all her appointments."

Another source close to the family adds, "Ash's condition has improved now and she's on her way to recovery. This is the first time she has been affected by measles."

Shiney Ahuja Flying High

A lot is being said about Shiney Ahuja. For starters, people claim that success (what success, we ask?) has gone to his head. Anyway, for some goss on his side...Shiney is upbeat about Hijack , a film in which he does loads of action – from hanging 100 feet above the ground from a helicopter to jumping from a chopper onto an airplane's wing. The talk is that the movie has many mid-air sequences that have never been seen before. Now, is that the reason Shiney is flying high these days, too? Someone ought to get his feet grounded and him 'down to earth'? Anyone?

Shilpa's New Love?

Shilpa Shetty is taking lessons in playing the violin. Her role in Sunny Deol's The Man that demands that the actress get well versed with the art of playing the violin.

Sources close to the actress revealed, "Shilpa's character in The Man is of an actress. She is playing herself in the film. But her character also has a interesting side to her. She is a violin expert just like pop sensation Vanessa Mae. Her violin playing portions in the film have been styled like a Vanessa Mae video. The film shows her as famous public figure with massive fan following. Shilpa wanted to lend authenticity to her character and decided to learn to play the violin."

Shetty has been taking her lessons very seriously just like a student preparing for an exam. "Shilpa has been very sincere student, leaving her violin teacher impressed. Sunny (Deol) too was impressed with Shilpa's professionalism and hard work when he came to know that she was actually taking lessons to play the violin just to be in sync with her character." Says the source.

Sandeep, a violin instructor from Goa has been deputed to teach Ms Shetty the fine art of playing the violin. " Every evening after pack up, Shilpa takes two hour lessons on playing the violin. She is shaping up to be a very dedicated student." Says Sandeep.

Shilpa of course is all smiles when asked about her new love," I have to play the violin in The Man. And to make it look real, I'm taking actual lessons. Trust me, it's a very difficult job to play the violin. I'm having a tough time. My instructor tells me that it's the most difficult instrument to play and he's quite right.! "

Saif -The Ideal Nawab

Saif Ali Khan is said to be the ideal choice for the Nawab in Sudhir Mishra's period drama The Nawab The Nautch Girl & The Johns Company. This is Saif's second period film after Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Parineeta, where he played the rich man's son opposite Vidya Balan to perfection.

Mishra who is currently making his version of Devdas titled Aur Devdas, has penned another period piece titled The Nawab The Nautch Girl & The Johns Company.

Says Mishra, "I've written a black comedy The Nawab The Nautch Girl & The Johns Company. Only Saif will suit the role of the nawab.

In fact, I don't think I can make it without him."

The film which will be a big project with a budget of around Rs 40 - 50 lakh will require an actor of Saif's skills, according to Mishra. Set in 1857 Lucknow, the story is about a a Nawab called Lafaaz who's partly inspired by Wajid Ali Shah and partly by Bahadur Shah Zafar.

Adds Mishra, "The character of the nawab must have strength and vulnerability at the same time. He must also have an easy boyish charm and regality that's so inherent to Saif."

The Nawab in Mishra's costume drama creates a myth about him self and starts believing in it. But, why Lucknow for a story based on the Mughal era?

Says Mishra, "Even before I started Devdas, I wanted to make an opulent epic drama and Lucknow seemed like the perfect setting since it's a place I know like the back of my hand."

Chitrangada Singh, who is a fantastic dancer, will play the nautch girl in the film. Talk about a sizzling pair for a period drama!

No wonder Saif readily agreed when Mishra approached him with the film. Mishra adds, "He was extremely kicked about the project and even wanted to produce it. Let's see what happens."
