Filmmaker Anees Bazmee’s who is known for some of the biggest hits in Bollywood, has found an apt subject in Sania Mirza for his next film.
The ace tennis sensation, surrounded by much controversy will be soon be portrayed by Sonam Kapoor in Bazmee’s next ‘Thank You’. The film is set to be a romantic comedy.
It is to hit floor in mid April and shoots are to be done in Canada. Even though the director is denying that Sania is the subject of his film, the striking similarities between Sonam’s role and Mirza’s life make Bazmee’s assertions tough to believe.
Just like Sania, Sonam plays a young, attractive tennis champ and falls in love with a guy, who is completely wrong for her. She soon realizes her mistake and turns back before it’s too late. Remember Sania calling off her engagement to Sohrab Mirza earlier this year before news of her impending marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik?
Talking about the news, director Bazmee said, “Sonam does play a tennis champ, and Akshay Kumar plays a guy who’s seeing 30-35 girls at the same time, until he meets Sonam. Though he gives up flirting, he’s not particularly serious about Sonam too. It’s a funny take on courtship.”

Anil Kapoor ropes in award winning writer for Ayesha
Based on Jane Austen’s “Emma”, “Ayesha” is a romantic comedy about an ultra modern girl who is wooed by three men. While Sonam is playing the female lead, Abhay Deol, Arunoday Singh and VJ Cyrus Sahukar will woo her in the movie. The film is being produced by Sonam’s sister Rhea under their father’s banner.
For the movie, Delhi boy Rishi had to pen "sophisticated" lines - a complete change from what he wrote for the earlier film “Oye Lucky Lucky Oye”
In ‘Oye Lucky...’, the language was very, very West Delhi sorts and the protagonists were not very well read. But in ‘Ayesha’, the characters are from the up market Defence Colony; they are from English medium schools, etc.
The film has been written by Devika Bhagat with Ritu Bhatia.

Sonam Kapoor voted the "Gen Next" Star
Birthday has brought a pleasant gift for the bollywood beauty Sonam Kapoor as she is been voted as the "Gen Next" Star. The stunner, who has been embroiled in an ugly war-of-words with Aishwarya Rai over ‘generation issue’ seems to have impressed a renowned Hollywood trade magazine shortlisted the actress as its "Gen Next" star.
Well, if Ash belongs to the past generation, Sonam seems to represent the upcoming generation. This fact is been supported by the fact that the actress has become the only Indian talent acknowledged by a western trade platform.
“Selective young talents are being featured here. I attribute this little achievement to the India Shining movement, which the world is so high on now. It’s very encouraging for youngsters like me and a great platform for any actor,” said Sonam.
While the country is going gaga over this classic beauty, Sonam’s Gen Next idol is Natalie Portman. Well, looks like Sonam’s special day just became all the more significant.

Sonam Kapoor to play Sahibaan
Bollywood hottie Sonam Kapoor is making the right moves in showbiz by taking Bollywood by storm.
After winning accolades for her notable performance in “Saawariya” and “Delhi 6” Sonam has become a name to be reckoned. She is now been considered for plum roles. Sonam is all set to play ‘Sahibaan’ in a silver screen adaptation of "Mirza-Sahibaan", to be made by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
The idea of making ‘Sahibaan’ came to Rakeysh during the shoot of ‘Delhi 6’. Rakeysh used to address Sonam as `Bittu`, the character she played in ‘Delhi 6’. Then suddenly one day he started calling Sonam `Sahibaan`. At first Sonam was baffled by this new name from Rakeysh. But as the historical perspective and the literary antecedents of the character began to seep in, Sonam grew excited about the project and began to pester Rakeysh about the project.
The actor playing the role of ‘Mirza’ is yet unknown, but rumours have it that actor Abhishek Bachchan will play Sahibaan’s lover.

Sonam Kapoor loses out to Katrina Kaif
Anil Kapoor was very keen to have his daughter work with Dibakar. But that’s not what Dibakar’s new Imran-Abhay romance requires. The heroine must be partly firangi, so Katrina with her firangi accent is perfect for the part.

Sonam Kapoor wants Shah Rukh Khan
Sonam Kapoor may have done just two films but she is very selective with her roles. Sonam however is ready to make exceptions if a role is opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
However apart from SRK, Sonam certainly has her set of do’s and don’ts. She doesn’t intend to do films where all she has to do is to dance in four songs and enact a couple of emotional scenes.
