Abhishek follows Saif; Get Aishwarya’s name tattooed on wrist

After Saif Ali Khan and Hrithik Roshan, it’s junior Bachchan who is all set to take the help of a tattoo express his love for the charming wife-Aishwarya Rai. Abhishek is planning to declare his feelings for wife Aishwarya Rai by getting her name tattooed on his wrist.

While Saif got ‘Kareena’ tattooed on his arm, Abhi seems to following Hrithik’s way of doing it for Suzanne, for he too wants to get it done on the wrist for Ash. Abhishek, who is busy shooting for ‘Ravana’ plans to get the tattoo done as soon as he returns to Mumbai.

Well, this seems to be becoming the latest trend for expressing love as far as our love smitten B-town hunks are concerned.

Then suddenly one day he started calling Sonam `Sahibaan`. At first Sonam was baffled by this new name from Rakeysh. But as the historical perspective and the literary antecedents of the character began to seep in, Sonam grew excited about the project and began to pester Rakeysh about the project.

The actor playing the role of ‘Mirza’ is yet unknown, but rumours have it that actor Abhishek Bachchan will play Sahibaan’s lover.

Aishwarya Rai ditches Rajeev Menon

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had convinced her husband Abhishek Bachchan to play the lead opposite her in Kandokondein which is director Rajeev Menon’s upcoming film. She was very impressed with Menon’s script. However, she didn’t take much time to go back on her word and betray the director as soon as another opportunity came along which she considered as much better.

Abhinay Deo, who is directing Aamir Khan produced Delhi Belly, approached the Bachchan couple for his next film. Since Deo is a name to look out for, Abhishek and Aishwarya instantly gave him their nod of approval. Their dates, which were initially given to Menon were shifted to Deo’s film. Menon is still reeling under what has happened as his entire project is now caught in a rut.

Abhishek Bachchan to play Tansen

Sooraj Barjatya is all set for a grandiose project – a Satish Kaushik directed bio-epic based on the life of Tansen, a musician-singer who entertained Emperor Akbar during 16th century.

Incidentally, the last film based on musician-singer prodigy Tansen was made way back in pre independence era in 1943.KL Saigal played the lead role in the film and Jayanti Desai had directed the film.

In today’s scenario, Himesh Reshammiya is the only singer who acts and Kaushik did consider Himesh for the project but Barjatyas, shot down the idea. But finally it was Abhishek Bachchan who was proposed to do the film and he accepted.
Abhishek was the final choice for Tansen. “He has the look and intensity. He also has the dialogue delivery of his father. And we do need a Tansen who thinks in Hindi and talks the language fluently,” said Satish.

With Abhishek entering the Barjatyas camp, the new entrant eliminates Salman and Hrithik, known to be the favourites of Barjatyas and equal contenders for the role. In order to recreate the classical element in the music, Barjatyas have roped in the talented Ravindra Jain who has given hit background score in ‘Chit Chor’ and ‘Geet Gata Chal’.

Abhishek Bachchan to play dad to Amitabh Bachchan

Whenever superstar Amitabh Bachchan has played the dad’s role , he has done very well and has received much appreciation . The Indian audience seems to love him for his grey look as much he was loved in his younger days.

But now he is all set to act as a son and guess what his real son Abhishek Bachchan will play the role of his father in R Balakrishnan’s next film- Pa.

R Balakrishnan who was also the director of ‘Cheeni Kum’, will be portraying Big B in a very interesting and challenging role. Amitabh is playing a man who ages really fast and hence looks far older than his actual age. To do justice to the role, a special make-up artist is responsible for Amitabh’s look in the film.

Well, Abhishek playing Amitabh’s father sound really interesting!

Does Konkona play a Lesbian?

The gay/lesbian element has been the perfect recipe for the success of a film of late. There has been thalks that Konkona Sen Sharma is playing a lesbian in the latest flick 'The President Is Coming'.

But the fact is that it was nothing but a marketing strategy. It's shocking to know the extent to which filmmakers go to generate hype around a film. And surprisingly though Konkona has no problems with this strategy. She's certainly learnt the tricks of the business.

There was a similar misconseption among the audiences about 'Dostana'. The press kept saying John and Abhishek were playing homosexuals in the film but reality was quite different, as everyone discovered on the release of the film. Konkona's character is quite similar. She plays a woman who pretends to be lesbian in order to make things easier.

One may wonder how happy gay rights groups would be about this increasingly frequent portrayal of homosexuality as a way out of trouble.

Incidentally, 'The President Is Coming' was supposed to release much earlier, but had to be postponed due to the 26/11 terror attacks.

Movie Review of Drona

DRONA is a big film in all respects -- big stars, big canvas, big expenditure on SFX, big ad spend, big expectations. Sadly, it's a big, big, big letdown as well.

Fantasy films are a rarity in Bollywood. The screenplay is a complete mess. What saddens your heart is the fact that the producers of DRONA, have spared no efforts in giving DRONA a spectacular look. The vision is perfect, but how about narrating an absorbing and attention-grabbing story? One would remember DRONA for its striking visuals, not storyline.
Although the makers have been maintaining all along that it's not about a superhero, the fact is, it is. In DRONA, the protagonist does everything that a superhero does. However, the lead character would only look more powerful if the anti-hero is equally authoritative. Surprisingly, the negative force here is more of a buffoon than a villain.

Dhruv Ghanekar's music is a big yawn. The tunes are listless and the placement of songs is equally jarring. Also, the length is a problem. The film goes on and on and after a point, it is difficult to bear it.
In a nutshell, DRONA disappoints.
DRONA rests on a thin plot, there's not much that director Goldie Behl can do to salvage the show. Yet, Goldie has executed two sequences with style. In fact, these two sequences stand out like an oasis in a desert. The first, when Kay Kay turns Jaya Bachchan into a statue. The second, the train sequence. Awe-inspiring sequences!
Sameer Arya's cinematography is, quite surprisingly, inconsistent this time. The lighting is too dark at places. The production design is innovative.

Jaya Bachchan is grace personified. The only regret is, she gets less footage. Abhishek does very well. He plays his part most convincingly. Priyanka's introduction is fantastic, but her 'Babuji kehte hain' dialogue gets on your nerves after a point. Kay Kay fails to impress. Navneet Nishan hams.

On the whole, DRONA lacks soul. At the box-office, the publicity blitzkrieg might ensure good returns in its opening 4-day weekend, but the cracks should start appearing sooner than expected, since the film fails to keep you hooked.

Big B Copies His Son

A son being an inspiration .... that too the Small B for Big B. Unheard of but true..... Big B revals it himself.

Remember the famous Amitabh number Khaike Paan Banaras ...? Big B reveals that the inspiration for his dance steps came from son Abhishek’s dance moves. “Abhishek was with me on the sets and he was very tall for his age and he was generally grooving to the song and I just copied it,” says Amitabh. And guess what Abhishek said to that? “Now it’s out in the open, even Amitabh Bachchan copies Abhishek.” Quite a revelation!
