Sooraj Barjatya is all set for a grandiose project – a Satish Kaushik directed bio-epic based on the life of Tansen, a musician-singer who entertained Emperor Akbar during 16th century.
Incidentally, the last film based on musician-singer prodigy Tansen was made way back in pre independence era in 1943.KL Saigal played the lead role in the film and Jayanti Desai had directed the film.
In today’s scenario, Himesh Reshammiya is the only singer who acts and Kaushik did consider Himesh for the project but Barjatyas, shot down the idea. But finally it was Abhishek Bachchan who was proposed to do the film and he accepted.
Abhishek was the final choice for Tansen. “He has the look and intensity. He also has the dialogue delivery of his father. And we do need a Tansen who thinks in Hindi and talks the language fluently,” said Satish.
With Abhishek entering the Barjatyas camp, the new entrant eliminates Salman and Hrithik, known to be the favourites of Barjatyas and equal contenders for the role. In order to recreate the classical element in the music, Barjatyas have roped in the talented Ravindra Jain who has given hit background score in ‘Chit Chor’ and ‘Geet Gata Chal’.
