Lately Aishwarya Rai has loosing out on lots of fronts. Firstly, a fairly new actress like Sonam Kapoor was proving to be a competition for Mrs Bachchan, and now the latest news is that ‘Slumdog’ sizzler Freida Pinto is Ash’s competitor.

A big brand that has Ash as its international brand ambassador and Sonam as the Indian brand face is now signing Freida Pinto as one of their international models. Since Freida will also be representing the same brand hence she shall be walking the red carpet at all major international film festivals next year, giving Aishwarya company.

Freida, who has bagged films with Hollywood biggies, is also expected to be on the jury of some of the biggest film festivals in 2010.

Looks like it’s time for Aishwarya to be causious.

Rachel Wood to star in Spider-Man

Evan Rachel Wood and Alan Cumming will be performing in the new Broadway musical "Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark”. Both the stars, who were anticipated to be cast in the show for some time now, finally signed up earlier this week.

The actress will play Spidey’s paramour Mary Jane Watson, while Cumming will do the role of the villain Norman Osborn-the Green Goblin. Julie Taymor, who directed the movie-musical "Across the Universe," will helm the show.

However, the date for opening of the technically complicated tuner has been postponed. Before it was expected to open on Feb 18, now, the musical will begin just the previews from Feb 25

Priyanka Chopra honoured at Shanghai Film Festival

Priyanka Chopra was invited by the Shanghai International Film Festival for their closing ceremony, where she was presented with the Festival's top award - The Jin Jue Award. This award marks the tenth award for her in the past six months.

The award is an ancient antique Chinese wine container which has a uniquely beautiful shape. Priyanka was the first Indian actor to be presented with this honour on an international platform for her contribution to cinema.

She, however, could not attend the function due to a serious stomach infection.

Kate Moss suffers Malfunction

Supermodel Kate Moss showed a bit more than she wanted as she accidentally revealed her undies during a wild night out. Looking gorgeous in black, the model stepped “daintily” out of a cab and flashed her undergarment.

She had been at the opening of pal James Brown’s new hair salon before returning to a West End hotel. While at the event, she wore a tight barely-there black mini-dress.

Bollywood moaned the demise of Michael Jackson

While Hollywood is left devastated by the sudden death of Pop icon Michael Jackson, Bollywood too is grieving at his demise. Jackson had influenced many tinsel towners and taught them a thing or two about how to go about the business of entertainment.

Saddened by the tragic death of the singer, Farah Khan said, "I officially had no training in dance and whatever I learnt was by watching Michael Jackson’s videos, especially `Thriller` over and over again. I consider him as my ‘guru’. He was the real reason why I wanted to become a choreographer. What I am today is because I saw his video ‘Thriller’. It was at that moment that I wanted to take up dancing as a profession".

Sanjay Dutt too expressed his grief. "I was really shocked on learning the news of his death. It’s really sad. I have never seen an artist with so much talent. I saw him at a show in New York and Bombay too. I was sitting in the VIP section but I was at a distance. He was a great performer and a super entertainer."

Film director Anurag Basu said “This is actually the end of an era. Our whole generation has grown up listening to his songs. This news is actually very sad and shocking”.

Sukhwinder Singh said, “It's a huge loss for the music industry. People remember him only as king of pop, but his grip on the music was too wide to be restricted to one genre.”

Sunidhi Chauhan said, “He was the one and only. My favourite song of his was "I just cant stop loving you".

Subhash Ghai said, “Michael Jackson was a symbol of fire, passion and energy of talent who changed the peopl'e thinking. Youth followed him worldwide including in India and even our film music and dances have been heavily influenced by him.”

Madhur Bhandarkar said, “We have been listening to his songs since 1980s and 1990s. The kind of euphoria that he created that time was amazing. His death is a great loss. It is so unfortunate that just weeks before he was supposed to hit the stage for his shows, he passed away. But he will always remain the king of music.”

Farah Khan is all set to grace ‘Dus Ka Dum’ along with long-legged beauty Deepika Padukone. After choreographing a song for ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’, Farah canned for an episode of ‘Dus Ka Dum.’

Farah said that she is participating for a cause and hopes to win a certain amount of money for her NGO ‘Sneha’ which works for the education of slum children, women empowerment.

‘Privileged’ star Joanna Garcia is all set to return to the CW with a recurring role on ‘Gossip Girl.’

She will play Bree Buckley, an evil Miss America-type blonde from a conservative Southern family but is politically progressive. Her story line is yet to be disclosed but it is expected that she will have to fling with a regular on the show.

Garcia had played Megan Smith, a Yale graduate-turned-private-tutor for spoiled teen heiresses in ‘Privileged’ which ran during the 2008/09 season on the CW. In 2001, Garcia had starred on the big screen in American Pie 2. Garcia had also starred in ‘spoof’ as a high school cheerleader.

King of Pop -Michael Jackson dies at 50

It was a sad day for music lovers as Michael Jackson died on Thursday. He was 50.

A true music genius, Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his home for nearly three-quarters of an hour, and then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him but couldn’t save him.

It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. Cardiac arrest is an abnormal heart rhythm that stops the heart from pumping blood to the body. It can occur after a heart attack or be caused by other heart problems.

Billboard magazine editorial director Bill Werde said “Jackson`s star power was unmatched. The world just lost the biggest pop star in history, no matter how you cut it. He is literally the king of pop."

"It seemed to me that his internal essence was at war with the norms of the world. It`s as if he was trying to defy gravity, The star appeared fragile at the time but was "much more cunning and shrewd about the industry than anyone knew." said Michael Levine.

Jackson’s death brought a tragic end to an era. He was the king of pops who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

Megan Fox 100 Sexiest Women list

Megan Fox has topped US FHM``s 100 World’s Sexiest Women 2009 poll for the second successive year. Fox is the second woman to retain her crown following Jennifer Lopez`s twin win in 2001 and 2002.

In the top five, the stunner was joined by fellow actresses Jessica Alba , Scarlett Johansson (third), Jessica Biel (fourth) and Madeline Zima (fifth).

Adriana Lima nabbed the sixth spot, Elisha Cuthbert seventh, Heidi Montag eighth, Anne Hathaway ninth and Katy Perry tenth.

Britney Spears jumped from 100th place in 2008 to this year`s No 12.

Shah Rukh Khan called a Kafir

Shah Rukh Khan’s comments on Prophet Mohammed seem to have taken a grave turn for him. Mufti Mohammed Shoeb Raza Qadri and Mufti Muti-ur-Rehman of the ‘Darul-uloom-Mazhar-e-Islam’, has issued a fatwa against SRK over the same.

Mufti Mohammed has apparently called Shah Rukh a ‘Kafir’. He also went on to say that such a person should be thrown out of the Muslim community. Mufti has gone on to comment that Shah Rukh’s marriage with Gauri was nullified and Shah Rukh must not be allowed to be buried in any Muslim graveyard.

However, the Bareilly-based Markazi Darul Ifta, responsible for issuing fatwas dismissed the decree saying the move by the two clerics was ‘unnecessary’. Shah Rukh has also strongly denied the comments attributed to him.

Kareena Kapoor angry on offending query

New Delhi media was in for a shock as Kareena Kapoor walked out in a huff from the promotional event of her forthcoming film "Kambakkht Ishq". The actress was offended by a TV journalist`s query on whether she was prepared to shed all her clothes for a film if the script demanded so. Kareena was visibly upset and fuming with anger at the query.

The incident occurred after the question-and-answer session with media persons at a city hotel. Prior to this incident, she had patiently handled queries regarding her professional life. She had also commented around wearing a bikini in Tashan and now Kambakkht Ishq mainly because the script demanded it.

After this, during a group interview a Punjabi news channel journalist asked her if she would shed all her clothes for any role in the future if the script demanded so. Kareena lost her cool at that very moment and rather than choosing to blast the reporter and create a scene, she simply aborted her stay at the press conference.

The reporter didn't know what hit her. The event coordinator too felt disgusted about the entire incident and found him in trouble as this situation was totally unforeseen.

There were problems for Kareena right fron the onset. Firstly around 100 odd reporters and journalists had gathered in a room that wasn't large enough to host a mega celebrity press conference like this. And then to make matters worse, queries like these were enough for Kareena to blow her fuse.

Singer Stacy Ann Ferguson and Actress Penelope Cruz had to gain 17 pounds before shooting of musical "Nine" began. The two had been asked to put on the weight which they merrily oblige to do.

“We were eating our brains out. We ordered everything fried and full of fat and salty,” said Fergie.

But after filming ended, Fergie discovered that she was not able to get rid of all the fat so easily, and her new curves prompted pregnancy rumours.

“If I don’t do sit-ups, my stomach sticks out,” she said.

Siddharth Bharadwaj and Sakshi Pradhan won MTV’s Splitsvilla 2 beating the other couple in the competition. Siddharth and Sakshi together emerged winners by defeating finalists Mohit Malhotra and Joanna Maagi.

After a hectic series of competitions, Sakshi Pradhan ended up beating Joanna Maagi by just one point in the last round of the show. Rest of the contestants, who were dumped from the show earlier, were made to watch the finale and also vote for their favourite couple.

Both Siddharth and Sakshi, won a prize money of Rs 5 lack each. They are expected to be seen hosting a show together on the channel.
