The Desi Girl Priyanka Chopra to be 'Goddess of Atlantis'

'Desi girl' Priyanka Chopra just couldn't have asked for more from life. On one hand, while she has got the critics and masses under her sway with her brilliant performances in her two back-to-back hit films - Fashion and Dostana, one the other she has added one more jewel in her cap of already glittering feats and achievements, by being chosen as the 'Goddess of Atlantis' at the mega inauguration function of Dubai's latest iconic luxury resort, the $1.5 billion hotel 'Atlantis The Palm' on Palm Jumeirah on November 20. This was one magnanimous function which saw the coming together of all the crème de la crème of Hollywood and Bollywood.

Priyanka also did the gracious act of introducing 'Atlantis Rising', an aerial ballet of fireworks, performed by Grucci family, who did the pyrotechnics in the Beijing Olympics. Amongst the heavyweights who graced this occasion included the likes of Janet Jackson, Robert De Niro, Kylie Minogue, Michael Jordan and Shah Rukh Khan, to name a few.

All in all, Priyanka Chopra is shining on the international map… all over again!

Priyanka-Kangana Onscreen Cemistry not so cool Of Screen

Onscreen Friendship especially between actresses survive only till one of them starts getting more attention, fame and money than her 'best friend'. one can look back at the past to remember the fact. Think Rani Mukherji and Preity Zinta, Esha Deol and Kareena Kapoor. The latest dosti, which has gone kaput is that of Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut.

Ironically, the bone of contention between the two actresses is their latest film Fashion, which was in the first place responsible for bringing them together. Gradually, the two had become good friends while shooting for the film. Priyanka even shared make up and fashion tips with Kangana.

But cracks started to be seen soon. Priyanka did not enjoy the reviews, which were tilted in favour of Kangana, the latter too wasn't happy with Priyanka getting favourable reviews from critics for her performance in the same film. Both the actresses have also been claiming that they were the showstopper in all the ramp walks in the film.

While both the actresses have been busy bickering, it is Fashion director Madhur Bhandarkar who has suffered the most. An upset Kangana boycotted the media interviews, which Madhur had arranged for at his office just before the film released.

Even after the film released, Kangana did not travel with Madhur to Bangalore to promote the film and she did not even attend the publicity campaign, which was held at a suburban mall in Mumbai. It was Priyanka who attended all the post-publicity campaigns with Mugdha Godse, the third heroine in Fashion.

Only time will tell if the Priyanka-Kangana dosti is over.

Fashion - A tale of Three Supermodels

Madhur Bhandarkar is known for making hard-hitting and realistic cinema. While his film Chandni Bar dealt with the lives of bar-dancers, Corporate looked at the games people play in the world of business. Page 3 gave an interesting overview into the lives of the rich and famous while Traffic Signal exposed the lives of beggars and street urchins in a metro like Mumbai.

Now, the director is ready with his latest film Fashion that gives us more than a sneak peek into the world of modeling and Fashion. The film slated to release this Diwali stars three supermodels in real life too…

Priyanka Chopra as Meghna Mathur
Call it a coincidence or what, but just like in her real life, Priyanka plays a small town girl who comes to the big city with dreams in her eyes of making it big in the world of Fashion। Meghna Mathur is an elusive combination of beauty and intelligence. She aspires to be a part of the fashion world. She knows that she has what it takes to become a supermodel and will pursue it to the fullest. She has an added advantage of an in-built self-esteem & a sense of morality and will not compromise on her dignity.

Kangna Ranaut as Shonali Gujral
Kangana Ranaut has also has done some modeling before she got her first big break with Bhatt's Gangster। Kangna plays the character of Shonali Gujral । Shonali is the reigning model on the runway and an icon for Meghna to aspire and look up to. However, Shonali is also a victim of the choices she has made. She bears the consequences of a steep rise to fame and fortune without a resolute backbone . Shonali is the poster child for glamour but also for self-destruction. Famous, envied, lost and confused she is a prisoner in a world, which will lead to her ultimate downfall.

Mugdha Godse as Janet
Mugdha Godse may not be a well-known name in Bollywood but in the world of fashion, she is a name to reckon with. She plays the role of Janet in Fashion.Janet is the tough talking girl with a heart of gold, who becomes Meghna's best friend. A model, who may not have reached the heights that someone like Shonali has reached, yet Janet remains carefree and lives life by her own terms with no demons or regrets. She seems like she has made a pact with life. But Janet has something which the others who survive like her don't: She has a heart. She values the importance of a family.

With 3 stunningly good-looking actresses portraying such contrastingly different characters, Fashion looks like yet another quality product from Madhur Bhandarkar.

"I am practicing rough language in real life" - Mugdha Godse

Mugdha Godse plays the part of one of the protagonist of Fashion as Janet,. While Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut keep thier mouth shut, Mugdha has willingly disclosed that her role requires her to speak in a rough language.

"I can't believe the lines I've said when the camera started rolling", says Mudgha animatedly, "Words like 'jhandoo' and 'bangroo' are not something that form a part of my everyday vocabulary and here I am using them all so naturally. "

Talking about the boldness of the character, Mugdha reveals that Janet is someone who wants to be independent and is living a lifestyle of her choice in urban India. Mugdha has spent close to 8 months shooting for the film and admits that she has got used to the language to such an extent that even in real life she could be found mouthing some rough words.

Mugdha's character of Janet in Fashion is said to be based on the real life of another popular model Carol Gracias and borrows incidents from her infamous wardrobe malfunction on the ramp.

29th October is the D day when audience would get to know if this indeed is true.

"I can relate a lot to my character in Fashion"-Mugdha Godse

Former Miss India and model Mugdha says "As a model, I can relate a lot to my character in Fashion. The film is very close to reality, but with a mix of fiction. It very well captures the emotions of everyone involved in the fashion fraternity - from a model to a designer,”

Mughda plays Janet Sequeira, one of three leads in the film alongside Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut.Throwing light on her character, she said: “I play a very vibrant, outgoing, bold and outspoken girl whose life takes a turn when something happens to her. She has struggled a lot and has become very strong. My character is intertwined with that of the other characters in the film and it is an emotional journey for all of them.”

Though “Fashion” has garnered much media attention even before its release, Mugdha reveals that the fashion fraternity is quite skeptical about their portrayal in the film. Not even one-film old, Mugdha Godse is already inundated with offers and has signed a three-film deal with a production house.

On being asked if she were bidding adieu to her modeling career, she asserted: “I won’t quit modeling, but I’ll concentrate more on acting career as of now.”

Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion is a peek into the Real Fashion World

After exploring the corporate world, bar girls and page 3 circuit, Madhur Bhandarkar is exploring the Fashion world through his latest flick, Fashion. He categorically denies that he is demeaning or exposing any person through his movie but says that he offers a peek into the fashion world to the common man.

Fashion follows the journey of Meghna Mathur played by Priyanka Chopra from Chandigarh to the fashion world in Mumbai and all the trials and travails that she is exposed to.

“I’ve always made different kind of films, a whole genre of cinema. When I made Corporate and Page 3, that time I felt that I should make a movie on the world of fashion, because it’s a high society,” says Madhur Bhandarkar.

“There is an intriguing point of making this film because I felt that people and media have given it a lot of hype and the kind of hype given to the fashion world, the fashion shows. Everyday you have big celebrities sitting in the first row and the common man would definitely like to have the perspective - a peak inside the fashion world to know what it’s all about,” he adds.

Fashion is slated to release on the October 29 right after two fashion weeks in Mumbai and Delhi.
