The Making of the Song :Azeem Shaan Shahenshah

One of the most reckoning part of Jodhaa Akbar is the song, Azeem Shaan Shahenshah, which has spirited choreography and grand visuals.

The song is a tribute paid to Akbar’s success in consolidating his hold on the empire. It is sung by Mohammad Aslam, who has sung for many A R Rahman tracks in Tamil and Hindi. Joining him is Bony Chakravarti.

This is unlike any other Rahman composition but the musical maestro admits that he has used a similar number and orchestration in a Tamil film.

"But the song in Jodhaa Akbar is far better," Rahman admits. "And it is used very well in an important part of the film."

The song sounds like it has voiced by a dozen voices and a raft of musical instruments.
"There was a lot of percussion drums and voices mainly and chorus here and there," Rahman explains.

"There wasn't a lot of orchestration. It is a drum-and-voice song. Therefore, we did not want to use violins or other instruments in it."
