From playing a terrorist in the television show Saara Akash to the hunky John Abraham's girlfriend in her first Hindi film, Aashayein, Sonal Sehgal has sure come a long way.
Sonal started off as an assistant to ad filmmaker-turned-film director Pradeep Sarkar (director of Parineeta). She went on to feature in music videos for pop band Euphoria and ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas, and also take up another serial, Hotel Kingston .
Incidentally, Sonal is married to music director Naresh Kamath, who, along with his brother Paresh and singer Kailash Kher, are composing the music for Akshay Kumar's Chandni Chowk To China. Shankar-Loy-Ehsaan will also score music for this film.
Sonal spoke to Nithya Ramani about Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein and more.
So how different is working in television and films?
In terms of work, there is no difference. What differs is the shooting schedules. For serials, it takes 12 to 14 hours everyday, even without the weekends off. In films, it means longer shifts but not on a daily basis.
