Kareena is in Australia shooting for Mr and Mrs Khanna with Salman Khan and I have been told that she will be the star show stealer for my collection. And now that she is a size one, I have to work doubly hard to get the clothes to fit perfectly”, opening lines as I chat up with ace fashion designer, Manish Malhotra.
Yes, after achieving the much-talked about international figure and initiating a trend of sorts, Bebo is now a size ‘one’. Post-the Tashan and bikini hoopla, Kareena who is currently shooting with Salman Khan in Australia for ‘Main Aur Mrs. Khanna’ is finally giving into the ‘Kapoor urge for food’. That and the hectic shoot schedules are eating up into Kareena’s workout time who will make her first public appearance in the newly acquired figure at IIFA 2008.
Scheduled to be held at Bangkok from June 6-8, IIFA will not just see Kareena grooving to some chartbusting numbers along the likes of Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Govinda, but also walking the ramp for her favourite designer Manish Malhotra. B-town’s blue-eyed stylist who’s responsible for the makeover of some of the biggest stars, Manish is checking everything twice over to make sure that this one goes smooth.
The designer who will present a bridal collection focusing on Indians colours, will also experiment with the colour ‘black’. Manish discloses, I am looking forward to the international Indian platform that will allow me to showcase my art. I will be using 15 female models and 5 male models. But right now, I am concentrating on Kareena.”
Kareena will fly down to Bangkok on the 7th, a couple of hours before the fashion extravaganza. No wonder Manish is having sleepless nights !!!

SRK & Priyanka pair up again In DON-2
After speculations, it is finally revealed that Priyanka Chopra has been signed to play the lead again opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Farhan Akhtar's Don 2. Not just Priyanka, even Arjun Rampal and Boman Irani have been signed on to play key roles in the film.
We contacted producer Ritesh Sidhwani, who confirmed the news. He said, "Yes Priyanka has been signed opposite Shah Rukh in Don 2. It is a sequel obviously and when we locked the story and the screenplay, we knew that we needed Priyanka for the film. Similarly, we have also signed on Boman Irani and Arjun Rampal."
However Ritesh is not willing to divulge any further. He added, "The story is indeed ready and everyone is pretty excited about the film. We will start shooting mid next year and we are looking for April 2010 release, so what’s the point talking about the film right now? All I can say is that the film will take off from where Don ended.”
In the final twist in Don, it emerges that the real Don is still alive, and was pretending to be Vijay who he killed and replaced while in the hospital. It was actually Vijay who had died in the hospital. In the end both Don and his girlfriend Anita (Ishaa Koppikar) escape, leaving the police bewildered. Critics believed that this twist was done to setup a possible sequel.

Sanjay Leela Bansali to make Satyajit Ray's Charulata come to Life
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has already offended the sensibilities of Bengalis once with his melodramatic version of Sarat Chandra Chatterjee's quiet classic, Devdas. Now he's planning to remake Satyajit Ray's Charulata, starring Soumitra Chatterjee and Madhabi Mukherjee. The director registered the title of Charulata in August, 2007, with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association.
Informs an insider, "Bhansali has a fascination for highly emotional subjects like these and Charulata has a huge potential of being remade in today's time." Only, will he turn Soumitra Chatterjee and Madhabi Mukherjee's quiet romance into a high-pitched drama?
However, there is another contender for the same subject. Amitabh Neil Ray also wants to remake Charulata and has planned to title the film, Charu: Unspoken. Ray, reportedly, wants to make a modern version of the film and wants to set the film in America.
Even as Bhansali and Ray aspire to remake the film, Satyajit Ray who made the film in 1964 had felt that Charulata was his best work and there was no need for him to remake the film. The film won Ray his second Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Fest in 1964. The original Charulata was based on a story written by Rabindranath Tagore and starred Bengali actors like Madhabi Mukherjee and Soumitra Chatterjee.

Reams of news print has been devoted to Ishant’s crush already and here comes the next clincher. Apparently, Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist too has confessed to nursing a crush on the gorgeous actress. Katrina has a different kind of charm,” he says. From Ishant to Adam, looks like Kat’s driving them all crazy. We hope boyfriend Salman Khan won’t mind it.

Shahid finds a Solemate
The question doing the rounds of Bollywood is: are Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan a couple?
The film industry would like nothing better than a romance between them. But reports of the handsome Shahid and pretty Vidya being seen together were dismissed by him as, “We had just gone out for lunch. I go with other friends too.” Now, the two stars who are coming together in Aziz Mirza’s Kismet Konnection, talk to BT about their relationship.
“Vidya is my co-star and we are good friends. But this isn’t your Bollywood kind of good friend. I mean, she’s a nice girl, a fantastic co-star and one of the many friends I have,” said Shahid playing safe. “Incidentally, Sania Mirza is also a friend and we meet, but there’s no romance. I guess I’m an easy target because I’m single.”
The thumping success of Jab We Met has put Shahid back on his feet. “At 27, filmmakers like Vishal Bharadwaj, Yash Chopra, Ken Ghosh, and my dad Pankaj Kapoor are making films with me in the lead, I cannot ask for more,” said Shahid who is looking forward to acting with actresses his age like Deepika Padukone, Sonam, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina.
Vidya, who has also been asked about their relationship, is guarded. “I’m scared of saying anything,” she said, “We worked together for 60 days in Toronto and I’m fond of Shahid, but he’s just as a friend.” Reacting to comparisons between them and Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, who were regulars in Mirza’s earlier films like Yes Boss and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Vidya said, “I, too, would like to have an onscreen pairing with Shahid like Juhi had with Shah Rukh, and hopefully people will say the same thing about us a few years down the line.”
Kismet Konnection, not surprisingly, is about love and finding one’s soul mate. But Shahid said he finds a soul mate even in his dog Keizo. “Soul mates need not be only about lovers. I feel a strong connection with my dog. He is my soul mate. He knows what saddens me and what makes me smile. He doesn’t disturb me when I need my space, but he is there. He even puts me to sleep,” said the lover boy giving new meaning to man’s best friend.

Farhan Akhtar's Voice From The Sky is running into Trouble
Priyanka, who has worked with Farhan in Don, apparently had some date problems as Farhan's dates were clashing with her film Fashion, being directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. Besides that, the actress is still has her portions to complete for Dostana. And of course, there is Ashutosh Gowariker's next with her boyfriend Harman Baweja. Earlier, Saif had demanded a bomb from Farhan as his fee for working in the movie. It is also believed that he was not too happy that his role was not very long and that the main focus was a child actor. Following the success of Race, the actor has gone ahead and jacked his fee up. Anyway, so now it's back to scratch for Farhan. He will have to renew his hunt for a leading man and lady for Voice From The Sky. The subject is believed to be one which is very close to his heart.

Siaf to Produce for Dear Sis
Far from being miffed with his kid sister, Saif Ali Khan is all set to produce a film for Soha. Saif, in his own candid way doesn't deny the stories suggesting he was upset with Soha about her rather unconventionally bold photo session.Saif says, “I was a bit concerned about a certain shot that Soha did. I felt it wasn’t right for her image. I wondered if she actually wanted to do this. She told me she didn’t want to and I was relieved. I trust her judgment. And I stand by her.”It all started with Soha doing a photo shoot that presented a bolder more vivacious Soha. “Soha, with her mother’s support, readily agreed to the makeover. However Saif being the protective elder brother, felt the shoot was too bold,” says a source. The situation was slightly tense in the family. But now that Saif has seen Soha’s line of reasoning, he respects it. Also, Saif, being a producer now, would certainly like to produce a film for Soha. “She has a very different personality and I’d like to tap that in a film,” says Saif affectionately.

Saif-Rani Unscreen Chemistry Doesnot Work So well Off-Screen
The truth, like they say, is far ‘bitter’ than fiction.
“Saif and Rani can’t get along at all. They never have,” whispers a source. “In fact Rani has told some of her closest friends that Saif and she couldn’t see eye to eye during the making of Hum Tum.
What she doesn’t say aloud is that they couldn’t see eye to eye all through their second and third films Tara Rum Pum and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, too.”
Continues the source, “Though they did try to iron out their differences and though they did get along better during their second and third films, there was still a lot of friction between them, both on personal and professional levels.
You see, they aren’t just very different as individuals, they are very different in their approach to a scene. These differences came to the surface in all their dramatic scenes together.”
So why did they decide to come together in spite of their terrible differences during Hum Tum? “It’s Yashraj who convinced them,” says the source.
“They’ve a limited number of A-listers on their roster. And in how many permutations can they put Abhishek, Rani, Preity and Shah Rukh? Saif and Rani provide an interesting study in contrast.”
According to our sources, during Tara Rum Pum in the US, the two argued heatedly in full view of the unit. The stress level during their third film together was greatly reduced. But there was still enough friction between the two.
Adds the source, “During the long outdoor schedule of the film in Bangkok Rani would try very hard to be part of Saif and Kareena’s inner circle.
But Rani was the odd one out because Kareena never liked her in the first place. In fact Rani is now in a serious co-star crisis. She has outgrown Govinda. Things are just not the same between her and Abhishek after the wedding snub. Shah Rukh has moved on to fresher pairings.
As for Saif, it’s unlikely the two will come together again even if their new film creates thoda magic at the box office.”

Raima & Riya Pair up as Sister In Seasons Greetings
Raima and Riya Sen are coming together, as sisters, in Vicky Chopra's Seasons Greetings. The film will reportedly have six stories all coming together in unexpected ways. The two sisters were not willing to discuss the project.
Raima, shooting in Italy, said, "Yes, Riya and I are finally coming together as sisters. But I'm yet to hear the script, though I've given the nod."
Riya, speaking about the project earlier, had said, "Raima and I stay together in Mumbai. There is not a thing that we don't share. All our friends are common. If she likes someone, so do I. And if I dislike someone, she doesn't have a choice. Our friends say we should've been twins."
The sisters had offers earlier to act together. "But we were pretty sure that if and when we come together, it would have to be as sisters," said Riya

Aish-Abhishek to pair up for Talismaan
Vidhu Vinod Chopra is all set to start his forthcoming film Talismaan . Though he announced this film last year before the release of his Eklavya it took him quite long to actually start it. With the announcement of Talismaan he also informed that his favorite Amitabh Bachchan will have an influential role.
Well the latest is that the Reliance group will co produce this film along with Vidhu Vinod Chopra. According to a unit hand from VVC Productions, Chopra had a meeting with the line producers last week regarding the star cast of the film. It is believed that though he hasn’t officially announced star cast of the film, the line producers inform us that Abhishek Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt have been signed to play pivotal roles in the film.
It is known that Talismaan is a romantic fantasy adventure inspired by the epic novel, Chandrakanta. It interweaves and mixes the elements of magic, fantasy and war. Abhishek will play a prince and Sanjay Dutt will be seen in negative role. Now the question is who will play the role of a princess in Talismaan . It is believed that Bachchans are keen to see Aishwarya in that role and Reliance too have no issues with it.
So will Ashiwarya be seen in Talismaan ? “Yes her name has been suggested but it seems producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra is not too keen to sign her for this project.” says a unit hand. It is believed that Chopra is keen to sign newcomer Deepika Padukone and if not Deepika, he may go for a new face. It can be recalled that Vidhu Vinod Chopra wanted to cast Aishwarya for his film Kareeb opposite Bobby Deol but Aishwarya did not do it and the same role went to Neha.
Now the question is what is the reason for not signing Aishwarya for Talismaan? “Well that can be one of the reasons. Aishawarya has recently done a role of princess in Ashutosh Govarikar’s Jodha Akbar. Thus Vidhu doesn’t want to cast someone who has already played the similar role.” Informs a unit hand
Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Abhishek Bachchan remained unavailable for any comment

Cannes Film Festival & Aish - An Old Bond
While Aishwarya Rai understands the constant need for people to check out her clothes and accessories at important events, what the star actor can't fathom is why her clothes at the Cannes Film Festival become more important than what she does.
'I don't even want to think about what people thought of my clothes earlier and what they think of it now. To me how I conduct myself at Cannes and how people react to me are far more important than what I wear,' Aishwarya, who has been attending the prestigious film fest since 2002.
'Cannes has always been a marvellous and memorable experience. This time was no different. It's never about the wardrobe for me. I don't focus on that at all,' added the actress who went there for the first time with 'Devdas'. She reminisces about each year she has attended the Cannes fest, saying: 'That was the year of 'Devdas'. That experience remains embedded in my mind. It wasn't just about how much they liked me in a sari or walking the red carpet. It was more memorable for the standing ovation that we got after the screening of 'Devdas'. What an ovation! It was a very special experience.
'Next I was in Cannes as a jury member and that's where sections of the media formed their own jury and began to assess my dress. After that I was there to inaugurate the festival and thereafter each year as the brand ambassador for L'Oreal.'
'In an interview there I was asked if our visit to Cannes was a delayed anniversary celebration. I was like... noooooo!' Apart from attending events and obliging shutterbugs, the actress managed to entertain herself by catching up with a couple of movies.
She smiles at the memory of bonding with Eva Longoria of 'Desperate Housewives'. 'We bonded so well at Cannes no one would believe we had just met. Actually Eva, Rachida Brakni, who did the original French version of 'Chaos', which I was supposed to do and who's now been taken on as L'Oreal's brand ambassador - all of us got married recently. So all three of us had something in common.'
She refers to meeting French actor Jean Reno as another memorable moment at Cannes.
'Jean Reno came up to me and said he had heard good things about my film 'Pink Panther'. These legendary actors are so hassle-free. They don't think twice about approaching you with a smile and kind words. That stays with you. So much less taxing than making an effort to avoid people,' she said.
On the home front, her fans are eagerly waiting to see her with Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan in 'Sarkar Raj', which is releasing June 6.

Bipasa Enjoying Year -2008
Race has so far proved to be the biggest blockbusters of 2008 and Bipasha is one woman who seems to be on cloud nine. However, Race’s success hasn’t calmed down the dusky actor as she is working round the clock to keep up her success rate high!
Soon after actively participating in the massive promotional activities of Race, Bipasha left for Australia to shoot for Siddharth Anand’s ‘Bachna Eh Haseeno’ along with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Minissha Lamba. The film has also been shot in Venice and other European locales. The film’s shoot is still on! If extensive travelling for Bachna was not enough, Bipasha chose to travel to Bangkok to shoot for her next venture with Neil Nitin Mukesh. Phew! Bips will be seen juggling two films at a time.
Bipasha’s stamina and never say die spirit has to be appreciated as where her male co-star– Ranbir chose to sit back and take rest in the break of Bachna’s shoot, Bipasha did otherwise.
“I am currently shooting for my film Freeze with Neil in Bangkok and Eros is producing the film. My shoot for Bachna is also on and I’ll be back to Mumbai only in June”, replied Bipasha through an SMS.
Where the rest of Bollywood’s heartthrobs choose to go slow and steady after they deliver a hit at the box-office, Bipasha is one actor who is in no mood to go slow and look back!
We hope Bipasha’s hard work pays and her success streak continues.

SRK still Rani's First Choice
Shah Rukh Khan tops her list of favourites. After a career spanning 12 years and 40 films, Shah Rukh is still the man who holds 'a special place' in Rani Mukerji's professional life.
'I was considered a newcomer in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', but Shah Rukh never let me feel like one. The treatment he gave in spite of his superstar status then overwhelmed me,' Rani, who made her debut with 'Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat' in 1996, said.
She said Shah Rukh had always guided her in the right direction and she had gained a lot from him. 'I respect his dedication and the extra effort he puts towards his work. I still learn a lot from him,' Rani told
.
The two have acted together in several films, including hits like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,' 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Chalte Chalte' and 'Veer-Zaara'. They were also seen together in the critically acclaimed offbeat film 'Paheli', which was based on a short story written by Vijayadan Detha.
Queried about her rapport with Saif Ali Khan, with whom she was seen in 'Hum Tum' and 'Ta Ra Rum Pum', Rani said: 'In my recent film 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' it was a good experience working with him. But while doing 'Hum Tum' we had some reservations. With time, we get along well and have mutual respect for each other.'
In 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic', which is releasing June 27, Rani says she essays the role of an angel who has been sent by god to bring happiness in the life of a business tycoon and four orphan children. She had to do a lot of practice with action director Shyam Kaushal, especially for the flying scenes.
'The speciality of the role is that I have to smile throughout the film unlike my other films where I had to cry as well. Even my fans told me that they have had enough of my crying. So this film is special for me and my fans; besides, 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic' is my only release this year.'
In real life, her angel is her two-year-old niece Myiesha. 'She keeps me smiling. Whenever I am free and have some time, I play with her. She keeps me going.'
Famously reclusive when it comes to parties and social appearances, Rani said emphatically: 'I don't like parties. I am more of a family person. I prefer spending time with my family.'
I don't want to do a film just for doing it or to please the journalists. There was a time when I did even three or more films at a time. I did 'Veer-Zaara', 'Mangal Pandey' and 'Black' together because the roles excited me.'
Her much talked about marriage plans are dismissed. 'You people are too much interested in my marriage. But let me tell you that I don't have a marriage plan for a long, long time. I want to do a lot of films now and don't see marriage in the near future.'
Rani's next project is a Yash Raj Film production with Shahid Kapur to be directed by debutant Anurag Singh. The yet to be titled film will go on the floors in June.

Ayesha Works Hard To Look Cute & Sexy
Ayesha knows how to hit headlines again and again to keep her name alive for audience and if it’s not with her portrayal of a character, with juicy gossips like her reducing body weight or stepping towards hotel industry or her endeavour to jump into a wedding with her boyfriend Farhaan.
Sometimes she comes prominent in news by denying some previous statement, too.
Now, all are well aware of complete foodie shade of Ayesha’s character. And in that scenario it’s very usual to put some extra kilos. But what should we do about people going crazy even with that news!
Having no other way, poor Ayesha joins gym and starts taking instruction from her fitness expert mother. Though the aftermath of the process does not leave any amazing impact, people are not ready to let it go easily.
Yeah, it’s absolutely true! Working hard and sweating a lot Ayesha shapes herself back but crazy people are always the same doubting. This time, our crazy people tags Ayesha’s fresh look as a miracle of science and a result of surgery. Poor Ayesha baby!
So, Ayesha has nothing to do than to face everyone and tell them about how she went through the ‘true’ process of weight loss. But, does she actually need it?
Especially if she has really done so, then what’s the need to tell others! Does it not add little fuel to the doubt itself? Well, leave it. It’s all about people and Ayesha baby only. Why to go for a time-pass with such a mundane story?
Once the weight is lost, is lost forever. But we can suggest Ayesha one thing. Go ahead and put some weight again. Find a way to shed it in front of our crazy people. Only then people may believe it your hard sweating. We guess!

Jhamu Sughand Passes Away
“For everything there is a season, like for everything there is a reason
For every break down there is a build up;
For every tear, there is a smile;
For every silence, there is a time to speak;
For every hate, there is a time for love
For every war, there is a time for peace
But for every Jhamu Sughand, there is …………
It is the fact of Bollywood that everything else can be replaced but not everyone. Jhamu Sughand happens to be one such man. It is indeed shocking to even think about it, but then, the fact remains that the inevitable has just happened. Bollywood's most prolific Producer Jhamu Sughandh, is no more. He embraced death in Juhu Hospital today at around 11.20am, due to brain haemorrhage.
Jhamu was responsible for producing films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Aks, Filhaal, Kaal Purush etc.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's On Screen Chemistry to be Seen Again
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's chemistry in Tashan might not have translated into box-office success, but filmmakers are definitely not giving up on the pair.
The duo not only has been signed up for Karan Johar's film to be directed by Renzil D'souza, they will also be working in Ashtavinayak's next film, which will go on the floors by May 2009.
Our source says, "Kareena is extremely comfortable working with Ashtavinayak. She is has also signed a three-film contract with them after Jab We Met."
Bebo is already working in Ashtavinayak's Golmaal Returns. Now, the production house has signed her and Saif for their next film which is an action-comedy.
It looks like this partnership works both ways - Bebo is quite fond of the production house, and even Ashtavinayak swears by her professionalism.
Kareena, we hear, was keen on working with boyfriend Saif in an action-comedy after Tashan. So, when Ashtavinayak made the offer, she readily took it up. However, the director of the film is yet to be finalised.
When contacted, Saif and Kareena's business manager Zahid Khan confirms and says, "Yes we are in the final stages of sealing the deal with Ashtavinayak. This will be Kareena's third film with them after Jab We Met and Golmaal Returns."

Mallika guarded by 100 Bodyguards
The Pondicherry schedule of 'Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam' came to a standstill when thousands flocked the set to have a glimpse of Bollywood's most sought after glam girl Mallika Sherawat, who plays the female lead in the film and producer Ratan Jain had to hire 100 security men to keep them at bay.
Confirming the incident, Jain said: "Yes the situation had become slightly desperate and before it could go out of hand, I immediately made arrangement for 100 security men. Mallika is the lead actress of my film. Hence she is my responsibility and it was my duty to see that there is optimum safety as a producer. I hired a local agency for her protection."
Jain's repeated pleas to the people to keep their distance fell on deaf ears. The crowd just did not budge, refusing to keep their hands off Mallika.
"This practically brought the shooting to a standstill. Fans kept gheraoing Mallika and refused to leave her alone. No matter what we did, they refused to leave and tried to come closer for a glimpse of the actress," a unit member revealed.
After 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects' this is Mallika's second film with Rahul Bose and both the actors got along famously as co-stars.

Sherlyn will be seen in different avatars
Sherlyn Chopra will soon be seen in a video directed and choreographed by Remo D'souza who has choreographed several films and item songs. In the video Sherlyn will be seen in different avatars. In one she will be a 'Moulin Rouge' performer while in another she will be a typical Bollywood item girl with all the associated jhatkaas and matkaas donning a diamond encrusted bikini.
DJ Akbar Sami has remixed and reworked the track to give it a house and club touch. "The original track 'Dard' was more of a lounge track. While it was a great piece of music, it wasn't of the dance variety. The success of an album and a music video is primarily based on the popularity it enjoys at discotheques and clubs. We have reworked Sherlyn's original track to give it an international club and house feel."
The costumes have been especially designed by fashion designer Reza (of DEVDAS fame) with inputs from Sherlyn and Remo. "We worked on the look keeping in mind the music and the dance moves. Sherlyn is a great dancer and a sensual, sexy movement comes very naturally to her. Keeping her plus points in mind I designed the costumes for her, which includes a traditional sequence, a bikini sequence and also an international sequence."
Sherlyn's fans and viewers will have to wait for another month till it goes on

Kajol Plays Cameo In Haal-E-Dil
It looks like generosity runs in the Devgan family. Last week, Ajay Devgan was in news for his generous gesture towards Kumar Mangat, who has been his business manger for over 20 years.
Now, it is wife Kajol who has agreed to play a cameo role in Haal-e-Dil, which will be produced by Kumar Mangat.
Our source said, “Ajay and Kajol are extremely close to Kumar Mangat and the film Haal-e-Dil is Mangat’s daughter Amita’s debut film.
So, when he requested Kajol to play a cameo in the film, she immediately agreed.”
It’s a known fact that Kajol only works with established banners like Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions, and is usually extremely selective about her roles. In Haal-e-Dil, she will play a small but vital role.
Kajol’s role in the film will give it the surprise twist that Mangat wants.
No wonder Mangat refused to give out detailsabout Kajol’s character when we asked him. However, when we told that we had a picture of Kajol from Haal-e-Dil, he laughed and said, “No comments.”

Ageing Makes SRK Sexier & Co-Stars Younger
As SRK is ageing, it’s not just him who is getting sexier than before but also his female co-stars!
If Om Shanti Om had a 21 year old super model Deepika Padukone, SRK’s forthcoming film will have 19 year old Anushka Sharma, again a model, that too hailing from Bangalore just like Deepika, as his heroine!
If Deepika had SRK and Farah Khan behind her, Anushka has Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh! For all you lovers of Yash Raj films and their beautiful heroines, here’s a little dope on Anushka.
Anushka has walked ramps for various Indian designers and has also been featured in hair products commercials of Silk & Shine, and not to forget the Fiat Palio and Whisper ads.
Anushka was also a show-stopper for Wendell Roderick’s collections at the Lakme Fashion Week, this year. “It was her beautiful expressive eyes which made me select her as my showstopper” said Roderick when we contacted him. Other than modelling, Eighteen year old Anushka Sharma is also studying for graduation in Economics in Bangalore.
If you are wondering what made Yash Raj select Anushka for the highly coveted role, here is what Yash Chopra has to say. “"We were looking first and foremost for someone who could truly embody the spirit of small town Punjab and we know we have found her in Anushka and while she has no previous acting experience, we have seen that unique spark in her that makes us confident that she will be a standout even opposite Shah Rukh," said Yash Chopra.
"Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" has started shooting from May 16 and will hit theatres worldwide on Dec 12. Talking about the film Shah Rukh said, “The first day of shooting is what gave me goose bumps like nothing else and to make films with Yash Raj, that too when Adi is directing, is an experience that is more than 100% exciting. Yash Raj Films is, and will always be, home for me and who doesn’t love coming home? Yashji and Adi have always given me roles that have gotten me love and appreciation from fans all over the world. And this time Adi has again written a character for me to play that I think will become as beloved as Raj of DDLJ was. I am going to be trying as usual to hit it out of the park with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.”

Priyanka Does a Fantastic Balancing Job
Priyanka Chopra is gung-ho about her personal as well as profession life. Professionally, she is eagerly awaiting the release of Love Story 2050 with 'good friend' Harman Baweja, while personally, she is kicked about her kid brother Siddharth's culinary skills.
The proud sister says, "He wants to be a chef. I hate cooking. I only love to eat. On the contrary, my brother is a fantastic cook and can effortlessly dish out any cuisine."
Talking about food, the shooting of Karan Johar's Dostana in Miami holds some fond memories. Priyanka, like the rest of the cast, was given a separate apartment.
"With kitchens, of course, which I never went into," laughs Priyanka. "My mother cooked for us in Miami. My brother has inherited his culinary skills from our mom while I've grasped singing capabilities from my father," she adds.
Talking about her films, does good friend and co-star Harman eat with the Chopras? She says, "Yes, he does eat food with us whenever he drops by. However, Harman is right now too nervous to eat as our film Love Story 2050 is on the verge of release. As his senior colleague, I can reassure him that he's a fantastic actor."
Priyanka adds, "It's very important to encourage a debutant. "
Priyanka feels so comfortable with filmmaking techniques that she learnt from Harman that she's all set to direct a film. She says, "Not now though. But, I'm well-equipped for the job."
As a parting shot, we cannot help but ask. Does she still maintain that Harman and she are only very good friends? "Yes, we're very good friends and beyond that no one needs to know anything else," she adds.

Kareena remembers her old days with Shahid
It had to happen sooner or later. Most of their friends said it would be sooner. “Two volatile souls like Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor can never last together,” a close friend of Kareena had whispered when she wasn’t listening.
The ‘inevitable’ has happened. There are cracks in the perfect passion already. If rumours floating out of the couple’s friendly circle are to be believed, Kareena and Saif are constantly having problems, and it isn’t Saif’s fault, really. Not yet.
Saif is constantly crowding her for attention. Nowadays, if you see him on his cellphone, which is most of the time, he’s only talking to Kareena. Saif has stopped communicating almost completely with all his family and friends. He never was someone to call up his parents.
Now even his mother doesn’t hear from him for weeks. Soha of course, never heard from him anyway. So that’s no different. In fact, when Soha heard that her brother was at the premiere of Saawariya (with Kareena, of course) she said, “I wish I knew, I could’ve met him.”
Dropping all communication with the rest of the world Saif has now found himself a constant preoccupation. Keeping tabs on the love of his life, and accompanying her to events all over the country which have nothing to do with him.
Kareena likes her space. She’s very giving in love, but doesn’t want her man to constantly question her. That’s what Saif is doing. She gets what-are-you-doing where-are-you calls from Saif throughout the day. Initially she enjoyed all the attention.
Who wouldn’t? But now it’s began to take its toll on her nerves. More than Kareena, it’s her mother Babita who’s worried and angry that Saif’s ceaseless trailing may affect her career.”
Friends say, Kareena has asked her beau to back off a bit. Quite a bit.
But Saif is Saif. When he’s in love he’s nothing else. Ironically, he used to complain about Rozza’s constant attention. Today he’s behaving exactly the way that put him off her for good.
Hounding Kareena with his attention. She can’t help remember Shahid’s laidback easy-does-it gentle attention.
So where does the relationship stand? “Well… it’s a little shaky. But nothing alarming yet. All Saif needs to do is give Bebo the space to find her pace.
Otherwise he’d have to get another girlfriend with a name similar to Kareena so he can get the tattoo re-done without too much pai.

Rajeev Khandelwal plans Screening Exclusively for Aamna Shariff
Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Shariff have been much talked about as a couple, though they have never come out in the open about their relationship.
Now, our sources informed us that the actor, who is debuting in Bollywood with Aamir, has organised a special screening of his film, only for Aamna.
We caught up with the two at a suburban multiplex where the screening was held at 4 pm on Saturday. When asked, Rajeev, as he walked out of the theatre, said, “Yes, the screening was mainly for Amna.
She had been waiting to watch the film for a long time after hearing the songs and watching the rushes, so I requested the producers to get a screening organised.”
Having a screening especially for Amna signifies her importance in Rajeev’s life. However, the actor shuns any such possibility by saying, “There are very few people for who I’d want to do this, and Amna is one of them.
She’s a close friend. I knew even before organising the screening that people would start talking again, but we’re not in a relationship. We’re friends.”

Rani To Make A Comeback After a Ligament Ingury
The Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle is an unlikely place for Rani Mukerji to announce her comeback to Bollywood.
But that is where the gorgeous actress is, surrounded by kids who clutch her long flowing skirt while she sings and dances with them on the songs of Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic , in which she is playing an angel. The kids are excited and keep screaming, “Rani didi, Rani didi.” Didi is fun and games, and one hour later, she turns apologetically and says, “Now I’m all yours, ask me whatever you want.”
Exhausted, nursing a torn ligament, she manages a 1,000-watt smile nevertheless. “Kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic with Saif Ali Khan will be my first release of the year. I play a character straight out of fantasy. It’s tough playing an angel as I have to keep flying. I’m always in mid-air, pulled up by a harness, I feel like Hrithik in Krrish,” she laughs.
Rani has been selective, of late. “I would love to do four-five films a year, but I’m not happy with the scripts offered to me,” admits the actress who is also working on Yashraj’s next film with Shahid Kapoor. But, whether she does films or not, Rani says that her fans continue to love her. “They loved me then, when I did films like Ghulam and Bichoo, and they love me now when I’m playing an angel.” Is she deliberately being reclusive? “No, I’m not,” she protests. “It’s just that the dos that I attend are not attended by the media. I’m more of a family person. After a day’s work, I prefer to go back to home to my niece Myeisha.”
What’s her equation with Saif in this film? Rumours are that the two don’t get along well. “Earlier we didn’t get along that famously. We are not the best of friends. But, yes, after we did Hum Tum, we got to know each other and now when this film was offered to us, we were more than happy to act opposite each other. We have grown together as actors. We admire each other,” she reveals. Rani’s done films with most of the big actors from the Big B to Kamal Hassan and all the reigning Khans of Bollywood. But she’s not worked Akshay Kumar. “Akshay and I want to do a film together but it’s strange that we don’t like the ones offered to us.

KJO ready to Mingle at 36
Post 35, admits dandy director Karan Johar, birthdays don’t hold much importance for him. So there was no elaborate celebration today when Karan turned 36.
“I feel old, at least mentally. I am not so excited as I used to be earlier. There’s a very settling feeling at this point in life,” says KJO. He accepted wishes from friends last night, attended Jodhaa-Akbar’s success celebrations, and then went to party with his closests friends. “I wanted the party to be at a restaurant and not somebody’s house and we did that,” says Karan who’s busy with pre-production work on his next film, My Name is Khan.
“My 36th birthday is full of challenges. It’s a new phase of my life. I have many wishes up my sleeve. This year I will have maximum releases and I will launch my SRK starrer towards the end of the year,” says the birthday boy whose most memorable birthday was his 25th on the sets of his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. “It was in Ooty and we were shooting in a summer camp with many children, my parents and best friends Shah Rukh and Kajol. It was so much fun. It felt like a real birthday with all those children around,” he says.
And his wish for himself, today, “I seriously want to be in a relationship this year. Last 35 years I had nobody in my life, I was so caught up with my career. But now, I have decided, I will at least be in a relationship. And I am serious about it.”

Ranbir to hit the Dance Floor
Ranbir Kapoor may have not danced a lot in his debut film Saawariya, but the actor will get a chance to show his moves in Yash Chopra’s movie Bachna Ae Haseeno that will hit the screens soon.
And choreographer Ahmed Khan is all praise for the youngster’s dancing abilities. In fact he predicts that Ranbir is going to surprise a lot of people. After Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir seems to be the next actor to join the dance brigade. Well the girls better polish their dance moves. Ranbir’s definitely all set to rock the dance floor.

Aish Finds Company of Desperate Housewives
Aishwarya smiles at the memory of bonding with Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives). “We bonded so well at Cannes. No one would believe we had just met. Actually, Eva, Rachida Brakni (who did the original French version of Chaos which Ash was supposed to do) and I got married recently. So we bonded over that common element,” says Aishwarya.
She then talks excitedly about another memorable moment at Cannes. “Jean Reno, the wonderful French actor, came up to me and said he has heard good things about my film, Pink Panther. These legendary actors are so hassle-free! They don't think twice about approaching you with a smile and kind words. That stays with you and is easier than making an effort to avoid people,” she says.
Aishwarya tells us about the films she saw at Cannes. She says excitedly, “I caught three-and-a-half films, including the opening movie Blindness, and the new Indiana Jones film. I could only catch half of Kung Fu Panda because I had to do some press interviews. I also saw the new Woody Allen film, Vicky Christina Barcelona. And yes, I met Woody Allen, he's wonderful!”
On her stunning sartorial grace on the red carpet, Aishwarya says, “This time around, I guess I had more time to prepare.”
While Aishwarya understands that people check out her clothes and accessories at important events, what she can't understand is why the clothes she wears at Cannes become more important than what she does at the annual event.
An exhausted and jet-lagged, Aishwarya laughs and says, “I don't even want to think about what people thought of my clothes. To me, how I conduct myself at Cannes and how people react to me is far more important than what I wear. Cannes has always been a marvelous and memorable experience. And this time too, it was no different!”

Hrithik is the new Serial Kisser !!!
If reports are to be believed, Hrithik Roshan could well be nicknamed Bollywood’s next serial kisser.
After the much-reported liplock between him and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Dhoom 2, Hrithik will supposedly pucker up for Anurag Basu’s Kites, which is being produced by Rakesh Roshan.
The kiss will enhance the chemistry between Hrithik and his co-star Barbara Mori, whose characters are attracted to each other but don’t speak the same language. But apparently the idea isn’t very appealing to Rakesh, who doesn’t want anything of the sort in his home production and has asked Anurag to be more subtle.
When sources spoke to Anurag, he laughed off the reports. “These are all rumours. Rakesh and I keep laughing about this. Every day we come to know about problems with a movie we haven’t yet started shooting for. First, there was talk about Deepika Padukone being cast in our movie, and now this. Let me tell you one thing: no director or producer will divulge details about a film, especially before shooting begins. We’re still writing parts of it and filming will start in July,” he says.
We guess Anurag’s given all those rumours a big kiss-off.

Preity puts on a new Hairstyle Exclusively for Cannes Film Festival-2008
She has always dressed up for the occasion. And so when the occasion demanded that Preity wear a 30’s hair style to go with the theme of a sponsors event, the actress got herself a great wig. So much so that everyone thought it to be a smart haircut.
Dressed in her regular jeans and club t-shirt, Preity made a fetching picture as she screamed and shouted for her club, Punajb KingsXI as they took on Mumbai Indians last night. Her straight black hair framing her face looked suddenly out of place as we had just seen her sporting a lovely short haircut for her Chopard event at the Cannes Film Festival, four days back.
When grilled by a tv commentator, the last thing on Preity’s mind was her hair cut. She was torn in two minds supporting her team and looking forward to seeing her favourite cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar bat. She said, “I am torn in two. I am a Mumbaite at heart and if I had not been a club owner, I would have donned the blue t-shirt of the Mumbai Indians, sat in the stadium supporting Mumbai.”
The spirited actress cum businesswoman is enjoying her stint as a club owner. She confessed, “I never thought that the club culture would catch on so fast. We all thought that it would be tough going for the people to support a club, but the response has been brilliant.”
Any role that life has thrown the perky actress, Preity has grabbed it with both hands. So from walking the red carpet in a startling blue gown to wearing t-shirts and jeans for a club cricket game, Preity has had fun going about her business.

Kareena Kapoor awarded the Cutest Vegetarian by PETA
Kareena Kapoor has been declared the cutest vegetarian that fans would love to emulate. The on-line poll was conducted by PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) and Bebo won hands down.
The actress bagged the highest number of votes giving other potential celebrities, who followed and advocated a vegetarian diet, far behind.
She has been receiving compliments by the dozen ever since she turned vegetarian and lost weight.
The Jab We Met actress is happy that she has inspired her fans to turn vegetarian. "If my fans are looking up to me and have turned vegetarian then I am happy about it. I am a pure vegetarian and it helps me keep fit and healthy. I am aware that my fans have liked my looks in Tashan and want to do something for themselves too. If they turn vegetarian for that then I am glad to be an example for them."
However, Kareena also clarified that, "I don't want people to come to conclusion that turning vegetarian means starving oneself to death. I have a healthy breakfast and have portions of food non stop through out the day. It is a healthy meal of varied vegetables and fruits. This meal keeps me fit I want those looking up to me for their fitness regimen to follow a healthy diet and not pay attention to stories that I survive on juices alone. That is not true! Also these rumors about me having acquired the size zero body mass is baseless. I am fit and healthy. My weight is just right for me. I would like to tell my fans that we are all individuals and body requirements vary from person to person. You should find the weight that is apt for you and keep fit. And yes follow a healthy vegetarian diet."
So here's to another feather in Kareena's cap...

Bips for Freeze in this Heat!!!!
Bipasha is currently shooting in Bangkok's scorching heat for Freeze. She can't help but joke at the irony of it all. Bips says, "I suggested them to change the film's name to Melt instead."
Bipasha seems to be caught in amidst extremes. She has been constantly shooting in alternate climates for the past three months.
She adds, "I was first shooting in the freezing cold in Italy for Siddharth Anand's Bachna Ae Haseenon after which I joined John and the unit of Dostana in Miami for three days.
The weather there was extremely sunny but I had a blast. What do you expect with two pranksters like Abhishek and John are at the same place?"
Bips is having a ball in Bangkok as her younger sister Vijayta has also joined her. Says Bipasha, "We are having a great time together - she's slightly mad, just like me."
"I don't know how I've gone survived so many climate changes in the last three months," says Bipasha.
Does it have to do with her co-stars- the handsome Ranbir Kapoor and Neil Mukesh? Says Bips, "Yeah maybe. I've been very lucky with my co-stars. In the last two months, I've worked with Ranbir and Neil.
Ranbir is a super-cute and we got along like house on fire. As for Neil, we're both Capricorns, and like me, Neil is extremely organised."
Bips tells us that Neil's gentlemanly streak is a common Capricorn trait. Bips says, "I've known two Capricorns earlier- Hrithik and Uday Chopra. It's fun to work with someone who has the same personality traits as you."
Commenting on Bachna Ae Haseenon being Ranbir's film, Bips says, "I'm one of the protagonists in the film. Otherwise I wouldn't do it. My days of doing decorative roles are over. There would be no story without my character in Bachna Ae Haseenon."
She says, "I had such a good time shooting with Ranbir and Siddharth Anand that I didn't give a thought to my role's length. "
However, Bips can't wait to get home to be with boyfriend John Abraham on June 20 for Aashayein's premeire. When aksed whether John needs moral support, she says, "He needs support, but not flattery.
John is a very down-to-earth person. I never flatter him. I think it's very important to be grounded.”

Shruti Hassan:Cover Girl of Verve
The moment we got a copy of the latest edition of the fashion magazine 'Verve', our hands just couldn't stop thanking the Almighty for the fortune lines on our palms. The reason is that we believe that it's only because of these fortune lines, did we become fortunate to be one of the early birds to see Shruti Hassan, Tomorrows' Superstar, today! Are we shocked? Man! We are not just shaken but also stirred!
The latest edition of Verve has got the 'Shocker Of Them All', Shruti Hassan. If the first name doesn't ring a bell, her surname surely will. She is indeed the darling daughter of the Southern Enigmatic superstars Kamal Hassan and Sarika.
Verve's latest issue touches upon the 'issue' no one has ever touched upon, what it means and takes to be a child of two Superstars! Well, Shruti is a self-confessed dedicated Messhugah headbanger who takes fancy for black nail polish and army jackets! Man! This 'girl-turning-into-a- woman' is really something! She not just writes her own songs, croons, jams with the tabla and piano, but has also performed at bigger venues than your mind can ever think, venues as big as Whiskey A Go Go, Hard Rock Café etc… to say the least. News also has it that she had almost signed on the dotted papers to star yet opposite the southern heartthrob Madhavan, which didn't quite come through, due to 'creative differences', which only means that the waiting time will be a bit longer for us to cherish the future superstar!
Hey Golden Sunshine girl, come soon on the silver screen…we just cannot wait any longer!
